2010 Dodge Durango Key Fob Programming

Updated 2026 Programming, battery & replacement fob

You can program a 2010 Dodge Durango key fob yourself in a few minutes using a working key or remote, no dealer visit needed. Follow the steps below, then check the battery and the correct replacement fob (with FCC ID and part number) if you need a new one.

Remote / key fob programming

On a transponder remote-key, the remote is programmed during the key procedure — use the key programming steps. On a non-transponder vehicle, you can program the remote yourself if you already have one working remote with all buttons functional. Any remote not reprogrammed now will stop working.

Before you start

  • At least one working remote (all buttons functional)
  • All your remotes
  • Sit inside with all doors closed and the driver's seatbelt on; no one else in the vehicle
  1. 1Put the key in the ignition and turn to ON (as far as it goes without cranking the engine).
  2. 2With a working remote: press and hold UNLOCK; after at least 4 seconds, keep holding UNLOCK and also press PANIC within 6 seconds. A tone confirms programming mode. Release both buttons.
  3. 3Within 60 seconds, for each remaining remote: press LOCK and UNLOCK together for 2 seconds and release (a tone sounds), then within 4 seconds press and release UNLOCK (a tone sounds).
  4. 4Repeat the previous step for every remaining remote, including working ones.
  5. 5Turn the ignition OFF, or wait 60 seconds, to exit programming mode.
  6. 6Test all remotes.

Tips & troubleshooting

  • Up to 6 remotes can be programmed.
  • No working remote? A locksmith or dealer must program the first one.

Key programming

If your Dodge has a transponder key, you can add a new one yourself when you already have two working keys.

Before you start

  • Two working (programmed) keys
  • Your new, cut key
  1. 1Insert the first programmed key and turn the ignition to ON. Wait about 3 seconds, turn OFF, and remove the key.
  2. 2Within 15 seconds, insert the second programmed key and turn to ON. After about 10 seconds the immobilizer warning light comes on and you'll hear a tone. Turn OFF and remove the key.
  3. 3Within 50 seconds, insert the new key and turn to ON. After about 10 seconds you'll hear a tone and the immobilizer light stays on for 3 seconds — programming is complete.
  4. 4To add more keys, repeat from step 1 for each one.

Tips & troubleshooting

  • Non-transponder key? No programming needed — just have the blade cut by a locksmith or dealer and it'll start the engine.

2010 Dodge Durango key fob battery

Your 2010 Dodge Durango key fob uses a CR2032 3V lithium coin cell. A fresh one typically lasts 3–5 years.

How to replace the battery

  1. 1 Look for a small notch or screw on the side of the fob where the key blade meets the buttons.
  2. 2 Pry the housing apart with a coin or small flathead (or remove the screw).
  3. 3 Pop out the old coin cell, noting its orientation.
  4. 4 Insert the new battery the same way up, then snap the case shut.
  5. 5 Test the buttons — if they work, you're done.

Battery tips

  • Use a fresh, name-brand 3V lithium cell — bargain cells drain quickly.
  • Try not to touch both faces of the new battery; skin oils shorten its life.
  • If the buttons still don't respond after a new battery, the remote may need re-syncing or programming.
